Hello!

My name is Moony, and I am a nice bunch of girls living in California with a ridiculous cat named after a paranoid android.

This journal is mostly friends-only, though all of my fiction and some fandom babblings are public.

Most of my fanfiction is archived over at The Pit of Voles, for convenience's sake. I've written House, Harry Potter, Good Omens, Brokeback Mountain, Sherlock Holmes (ACD) and Sherlock (BBC).

In 2003, I rewrote the Buffy musical episode, 'Once More With Feeling,' as a Harry Potter parody. You can find it here. And somehow I was sober at the time.

Recent Works

An Ordinary, Extraordinary Man - Sherlock BBC - urban fantasy AU - John/Sherlock

The Shape I Found You In - Sherlock BBC - collaboration with [livejournal.com profile] irisbleufic - John/Sherlock

Lay Me Down - Sherlock BBC - sequel to The Shape I Found You In - collaboration with [livejournal.com profile] irisbleufic - John/Sherlock

Monster - Sherlock BBC - "It is fortunate for this community that I am not a criminal." - John/Sherlock

It Gets Better - Sherlock BBC - written for The Trevor Project - John/Sherlock

The Vast Perhaps - Sherlock BBC - a series of deaths and near deaths in the life of John Watson - John/Sherlock (squint)

Free To Move About the Cabin - Sherlock BBC - porn on a plane - John/Sherlock

Tuesday Morning - Sherlock BBC - birthdays and brains - John, Sherlock

The Adventure of You - Sherlock ACD - a retelling of 'The Empty House' - Watson/Holmes

A Secret History - Sherlock ACD/Ritchie - Holmes and a trunk of trunkishness - Watson/Holmes

One Time When Kirk Thought Pon Farr Was a Cliché - Star Trex XI - ridiculousness ensues when Kirk finds out about Pon Farr - vaguely Kirk/Spock

Everything Is Different Now, Forever - Harry Potter - Merry Smutmas - porn! - Remus/Sirius

Hi there,

I was hoping to read your House/Wilson fic(s), especially 'An Inconvenient Truth'. Would love to know if I can find them anywhere else except here (I understand about keeping your journal friends-only, especially with LJ being what it is nowadays). Anyway, I can only offer you my word that I'm not insane, and I really am just here to read some good fan fiction :) Hope to hear from you.

Stéph

Hi!

It would take me a long time to go back and find all my fic and unlock it, so I'll give you the URL to my spot on ff.net:

http://www.fanfiction.net/~maybethemoon

I hate the Pit of Voles, but it was the easiest place to dump everything for posterity's sake. :)

Thanks for your interest. :) I'm glad people are still reading my fic, even after all this time! :D

Thanks a lot! Just read your Brokeback fic and thought it was absolutely heart-wrenching. Really touching, and good characterisation of Alma Jr. and Ennis. Thanks again for forwarding the link, and good luck with the rest of NaNoWriMo.

Cheers,

Stéph

I've opened it up to the public and tagged it so it should be easy to find now. :) I'm glad you like it - I actually want to reread it now. It was SO much fun to do. :D

Hello! I saw you over at [livejournal.com profile] little_details on the thread about cross-dressing Victorian ladies, and I saw also that you were interested in girl!Holmes fic (!!!), and was utterly fascinated by the idea.

I'd like to get to know better the kind of mind that can conceive such a dastardly plotbunny! :D I'm a would-be writer in her mid-teens, on the other side of the globe from thee, if you'd like to know more about me.

May I add you? :)

The fact that you're in your mid-teens and yet you're using proper punctuation, spelling and the word "dastardly" makes you pretty nifty in my book already. :D

Afraid I'm fairly boring outside my predilection for genderswap tropes. :) I just got to thinking about Holmes's intelligence and his habits and what he's accomplished, and I wondered how the hell he would have survived if he'd been born female (this is after reading endless books and websites on Victorian gender issues, and Libba Bray's A Great and Terrible Beauty, and too much Austen). Thus the birth of the plotbunny that ate London. :)

Add me! I've already added you. :D Hi!

I hadn't realized you were based in Mass. I graduated from Wellesley College in June 2005; I'd gone in as a transfer student in 2003, so I spent a total of two years living in the Boston area. I loved it. I miss it like I can't say. However, I moved to the UK in late 2005 and I've been here ever since, and given that I may be just about to move to London (if all goes well with James's job interview), I couldn't be more pleased, because London's my second-favorite city in the world - well, I lie. Boston and London fight over my heart ruthlessly.

I'm beginning to wonder, though, if our paths ever crossed in RL. There was a slash gathering in Mass that went on for years, maybe still does, and from about 2002 through 2005, I turned up on a regular basis. Massachusetts Gathering, usually shortened to Mass Gathering. Movie outings, film viewings at various of the members' houses, etc. Anyway, if you ever turned up, I'd have been the quiet, nervous-seeming redhead with short hair who was in a relationship with another regular attendee for a while.

If not, that's okay. I'm just always proud of the Mass peeps I find in fandom; they're invariably brilliant, talented, and fun to know.

I've been in and out of MA since, oh, 1998 or so. Truth be told I've lived all over the bloody place, haha, but MA is where I consistently keep ending up and wanting to stay. I'm trying to remember if I ever managed to make it to Mass Gathering - probably at LEAST once, but I couldn't tell you what year that was. My memory's absolutely hopeless. If we did cross paths, then hi again! If not, then I hope we eventually do! (I've read your Good Omens fic, and I was so unbelievably happy that you started writing Sherlock, you've no idea.)

I love it here, truly. I love spring, I love summer (so long as I have air conditioning), autumn is my absolute most beloved season, and winter makes me feel like I live in a Normal Rockwell painting. I could certainly live in Boston, if given the chance, and I could probably do it permanently. I love this state, and it loves me (well, MASSDOT doesn't, hee).

BTW, I hope James's interview went well! I've had my toes crossed for him. :D As I said, I'd happily hand over vital organs to work at the Tower. :D

From: [identity profile] irisbleufic.livejournal.com
It's nice to know Mass Gathering is still a little nexus of familiarity for fannish folk. I think I must've attended a total of ten times or so, between house-viewings and outings to Brattle Theater (if you attended any of the events during the LOTR-film-release-era festivities, then we almost certainly crossed paths).

He says it felt like it went well, but who can say what the panel was thinking? I'm hoping he has a chance, oh God. I want out of here. I want my other favorite city, if only for a few years. Heaven knows it'll be a good backdrop for the word-mire I'm stuck in now :)

Summer in Boston is a bitch, there's no denying it. But I'm glad it has one stubborn time of year. If it was completely perfect, I'd swear I dreamed it all up.

please friend

Hello there!
I discovered your journal through the Sherlock BBC and JohnSherlock communities, and I've been checking back frequently because I love all your fic, all your recs, and the general stuff you leave open to the public - the "it gets better" vids, and the Giftmas Wish meme, for example. (I swear I saw that meme on your journal just this morning, and I wanted to do it too so I came back to look for it... Now I can't find it. Am I hallucinating?) A Massachusetts girl myself (south shore, though), I also feel some kindred-ship with you there. ;D
Anyway, I'mma go ahead and friend you, but no pressure for you to reciprocate - I totally understand the need to be generally cautious on the 'net, and while I'm always up for getting better acquainted with online friends, I am also content to sit here and follow your fic and musings from a safe distance. Thank you for sharing your writing and your thoughts with the world! <3

I love your writing and all your input into the fandom so yeah! Not trying to be scary stalker, and I'm definitely not feeling any need for you to friend back (Like I said I love your fics and rather than getting word of blogs I was hoping to actually follow you easier that way).

Hope you don't mind! Just didn't want you wondering at weird lurker person!

Hello,

I'm here through the Sherlock fandom and [livejournal.com profile] irisbleufic but reading your Sherlock stuff makes me want to read your other stuff too! I'm a postgrad in London with two cats and an amused girlf who isn't so into fangirling but supports it anyway. I post rarely on my own lj, and what I post is mainly Sherlock fanfic (behind lj cuts, naturally!). I'd like to friend you, but quite understand your caution. Although the musings and the python do sound interesting!

Much love,

Hello!

I'd like to do an audio recording of "The Shape I Found You In." It'd be my first one, but it's one of my absolute favorite Sherlock fics, so I'd like to try. Would that be okay with you? If so, do you want it by itself and "Lay Me Down" (which, incidentally, I also adore and would also like to record) by itself or would you prefer them as one recording? I have asked [livejournal.com profile] irisbleufic and she said she'd be happy to have it done and would prefer it as one long recording, so now I'm checking in with you. :-)

Hi,moony-I read "The Shape I Found You In" on irisbleufic's page, and found it absolutely brilliant. So I desired to translate it into Chinese and put it in a private Sherlock-related forum(Chinese, of course). I have asked irisbleufic
for permission.Here is her reply:

"I would have no problem with you translating this into Chinese, as long as you link to this post and cite it as the original text when you put up the translation. Please drop a note to moony asking her permission, as well, as she's my collaborator on this piece!"

Therefore I come to you, looking forward to your permission.
And I will definately do what irisbleufic requires.
